个案研究方法是质性研究的重要方法之一,近年来受到越来越多研究者的关注。达夫著的《应用语言学中的个案研究方法/科研方法系列/全国高等学校外语教师丛书》专门介绍应用语言学领域个案研究方法的使用。全书共六章:第一章介绍了应用语言学领域个案研究方法的重要性及常见的研究角度。第二章介绍了个案研究方法的定义、起源、特征及其在应用中的优势和缺陷。第三章通过实例展现了近30年来个案研究方法的研究主题和趋势。第四、五章介绍了个寨研究方法的具体实施过程,包括研究设计,数据的收集、分析和解读,以及研究评价等。第六章介绍了如何撰写个案研究报告。最后,本书特别增加了一个中文研究案例,以帮助国内读者更好地理解本方法的应用。
